Faith Christian School is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools—Council of Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS-CASI) and is also a member of the Virginia Council on Private Education (VCPE), Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), Christian Schools International (CSI), the Association of Classical Christian Schools (ACCS), Educational Records Bureau (ERB), Independent School Management (ISM), Virginia Association of Christian Athletics (VACA), and employees hold professional membership in the Society for Classical Learning (SCL). Faith Christian School became a candidate for accreditation with SACS-CASI in 2006, and in November 2008 gained accreditation. This accrediting agency is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as one of the highest accreditations an educational institution can receive in academia, and is the largest school accrediting agency in North America. SACS-CASI accreditation means that Faith Christian School is committed to standards of excellence derived from educational research and best practices. The accreditation also signifies that Faith Christian School is engaged in the continuous process of school improvement. The mission, vision, and educational philosophy of Faith Christian focus on providing the best educational experience for each child spiritually, academically, athletically, and in the fine arts. The personnel, curriculum, programs, and operations are evaluated every year by faculty, staff, and the board of directors. Part of the school improvement process includes seeking input from the school community. We periodically conduct surveys, focus groups, committee meetings, and parent forums to seek input from our various stakeholders.
Faith Christian School is committed to an ongoing school improvement plan in all areas of our school community. Every five years all SACS-CASI accredited schools undergo a school improvement process quality review. In the fifth year of every accreditation cycle, educational experts and representatives from SACS-CASI visit the school and examine personnel, curriculum, programs, and operations. The next visit is scheduled for fall 2013. During our November 2008 visit, the School received very high marks for meeting, and in many areas, exceeding the standards of accreditation. Our goal is to exceed the standards once again in our re-accreditation visit in 2013. As a Christ-centered, classical school of academic excellence, we are committed to staying true to our mission, vision, and educational philosophy as established by our founding board in 1997. Our school improvement process, as monitored by SACS-CASI does not deter but, rather, reinforces our commitment to our vision.
