MISSION: The mission of Faith Christian School is to provide a Christ-centered classical education of academic excellence, spiritual depth, and moral integrity which will prepare students for godly participation in their society and promote loyalty to God and country.
ACADEMIC PROGRAM: The rigorous and demanding curriculum is modeled after the classical trivium, consisting of three parts: grammar, dialectic, and rhetoric, which are designed to equip students with the tools of learning. Students transferring from other schools, both public and private, generally require a period of adjustment to the academic requirements and expectations at FCS. The interdisciplinary integration of subjects is stressed, particularly at the high school level. Students are expected to be able to clearly articulate their beliefs and views on various topics. Classical and modern languages are required, and students are expected to use their acquired logic and rhetorical skills throughout their study. There is only one academic “track” throughout the school, and it is typically at the honors level, which is designated as such on the transcripts. Overall, the course of study is demanding and college preparatory, whereby students are required to think deeply and critically. Our students in grades ten through twelve, who achieve a minimum cumulative average of 3.50, as well as meet strict qualifications regarding service, leadership, and character, are inducted into our Veritas Honor Society. Faith Christian School does not rank students.
SENIOR THESIS: A Senior Honors Thesis is required for graduation. It is an opportunity for the seniors to improve their critical thinking, research, and rhetorical skills by preparing, presenting, and defending a substantive argument on a debatable question. Close contact with a faculty advisor is required, as the students spend an entire year preparing their theses. Each thesis is presented and defended extemporaneously to the faculty and invited guests at the Senior Thesis Defense.
EXTRACURRICULAR: Athletics, as well as clubs, round out the students’ experiences at Faith. The Ministerium Society gives students the opportunity to minister in a variety of service projects within the surrounding community. The Student Government Association allows students to minister to others at Faith Christian School. There is also Tertulia (Spanish Club), Math Club, Art Club, Latin Club, and Hi Y, which includes the Model General Assembly and the Model Judiciary Program. Students engage in various team sports in each season.
ENROLLMENT: Founded in 1997, Faith Christian School now enrolls 304 students in grades K-12. In the past nine years there have been eighty-two graduates, and typically 100% of our graduates matriculate at a four-year college or university. The student-faculty ratio in the Upper School is 10:1.
